Now that the holiday season is out of the way, I was able to get back into my painting routine. The first project on the list to complete was a unit of heavy cavalry for my Teutonic Knights, specifically the Order Knights.
I decided for this entry I would post a few pictures of the layering process of the unit. A base-coat of P3 Hammerfall Khaki was applied to the comparison, lance and shield.
P3 Menoth White Base was used for the next layer. The paint was applied about half-way down the recesses up to the raised areas.
P3 Menoth White Highlight was then used for the highlight layer. All the raised areas were covered.
I painted the center knight a little different as I may use him as a second general if needed. The crosses were painted with GW Chaos Black, with a center layer of GW
Chardon Granite.
The base was sanded and flocked, leaving a few gaps for the ground. The gaps were painted
with GW Scorched Brown, followed by a dry brush of GW Bestial Brown. A
highlight dry brush of GW Bleached Bone finished the unit.

Impetus Teutonic Order: Veteran Order
Having 4 units of light cavalry completed I thought it was time to move on to my heavy units, specifically my Veteran order with general, Ulrich Victoris. This was my first attempt at horses with comparisons. I am happy with the end results.
The crosses were my first attempt at free hand. I have to say that more practice is definitely needed. It was much tougher then I anticipated.
The order is steadily growing and I am looking forward to fielding these units.
Thanks for looking,
Tenz

Teutonic Order: Turcopoles
I have been slowly working on my 15mm Impetus army, the Teutonic Order. The latest addition was a unit of light cavalry, specifically the Turcopoles.
I decided to start painting with some brighter colors on the last few units. The reasoning for this is most of my heavy cavalry will be branded with the colors of the order, which will be white and black. This will draw a definitive line on those who are in the knighthood and those who are not.
One thing I am discovering with 15mm is the more units I paint, the better the final product. As I mentioned in previous posts their is an actual technique to painting this scale. For me I am still finding out little perks and quirks as I continue to paint. Like most wargamers I talk to, 15mm is becoming a favorite of mine rather quickly.
The unit is almost complete. The only item left to finish is to dry brush the sand, and then they will be ready to join their brothers!
The next unit on the bench will be my command unit which will be a heavy cavalry unit of Teutonic Knights.

Impetus Light Cavalry: Progress Update
As of late I have had my hands into a number of projects but wanted
to focus on my 15 mm Impetus project. To date I have two units of light
cavalry (Livonian and Knechte)finished and based. I have another unit of
Livonians completed but noticed later I used the wrong size base.
As you can see from the above image the base for the Livonians on the right is not as deep as the others. I believe this piece was left over, and I made the mistake of keeping it with my other templates. Luckily it doesn't take much time to re attach the models to a new base and flock.
Here are a few more shots of the units.
Being my first attempt at anything 15mm I have to say I am enjoying painting these little guys. I found it took me a few units to get the handle on painting this scale. The features are small compared to the the defined detail I am used to with 28mm.
I'm looking forward to starting in on my next unit which will be a unit of heavy cavalry.

Impetus: Knechte Unit
With the first adventure of GS:Delves out of the way. I figured I would switch things up this week and start in on my 15mm Impetus project for the Teutonic Order.
Impetus is a rule set for Historical gaming. The game developers provide army lists from different time frames for players to choose from. My gaming group tends to work on armies from the same era as to keep its historical value.
To find out more on this rule set please visit there website here.
What drew me to the Teutonic Order was basically everything is mounted. They hit quick, fast and hard.
The first unit I started with were the Knechte. These guys are mounted ranged archers who help deal with the charging footman and skirmishers. They will also lay down there life to protect the Knights! "For the Order!"
The first unit of Knechte is almost complete. I am hoping to finish these guys tonight and get them ready to base. The only items left to complete are two shirts on the riders and the dry brushing of the manes. Here is how they look so far.
