A bit of a quick update. I was able to finish an Oni Mage, which was a model that was sculpted and released for Goal System: Delves.
The model was a lot of fun to paint and is oozing with character.
I'm looking forward to seeing this bad boy on the table.

Delves Progess Update: Decor
I have been continuing to make progress for the next Delves adventure. The rest of the map templates have been cut and are ready to be painted. Also I was able to complete most of the decor to be used as our heroes explore in the adventure.
First we have some crypts and grave markers. These pieces are from Armorcast and can be used as is. I may down the road put them on a base and flock, but for now they will suit my needs.
What would an adventure be with out riches for the heroes to find. These chests are from the old Herosquest game. The others are from a game whose name is eluding me at the moment!
These small building (outbuildings) will come in handy for guard posts or small settlements. These pieces are also Armorcast.
I don't want to go into much detail about these other then they were scratch built and needed for the adventure. The heroes will have a "puzzling" time with these spheres.
I needed a portcullis and didn't have one, so I decided to scratch build one. This was quite easy with some popcycle sticks, kabob skewers and a mdf base. Makes for a great primitive portcullis.
In other news Jet and I will be playing Pulp Alley tonight so expect another report later this week.
As always thanks for reading,

Delves Progress Update: Map Templates
One thing I enjoy about Goal System: Delves is the old school feel the game has. The common statement when playing Delves is its ability to take gamers back to their roots, usually AD&D. It is with that in mind that the next adventure will be a mix of my favorite D&D adventures from the past.
As I started to plan the adventure I soon found that it took on a mind of its own and now its more of a project then anything. But like any war-gamer I'm enjoying every moment.
Without giving to much away this adventure will be a good mix of traps, puzzles, and combat, which would make any adventure fun and exciting.
For this adventure I wanted to reveal the map as the adventurers explored the area. To do this I decided to use 8th inch mdf. I cut the pathway sections into 2.5 inch widths and at different lengths. This way I will reveal sections of the map for the players to explore.
The larger areas will be used for rooms, caverns or whatever I need. I decided to add a few cardboard squares to each template to kinda represent an underground corridor (jury is still out if I like the look) and then sanded around them to add texture to the surface.I then dry brushed the sand to match my table.
One thing I did find with the larger pieces is that they warped with the watered down glue for the sand. I have tried brushing the underside with waterdown paint and stacking heavy books on them but they would still warp. To address this issue I spray painted the larger pieces with urban textured paint followed by a dusting of matte black. It doesn't look as nice as the other pieces but will do the job and won't warp.
I'm about half done and hoping to have the other half down by the end of the week. What I like most about these is they will come in handy for numerous other games I play.
P.s. if anyone has any idea how to prevent warping of the larger pieces I would love to hear about it.
Cheers and thanks for reading,
Tenz

Terrain update: Fencing
A bit of a quick update. As I've been gathering my ideas for the next Delves adventure I decided to finish my GW Fences. Here is how they turned out.
I had a lot of fun painting these terrain pieces as most aspects were dry brushed and made for quick easy results. As the plans for the next Delves adventure are unfolding I am discovering its turning into more of a project then a gaming session. Lets just say some new terrain is in order. I hoping it turns out as well as it looks in my mind.
As things progress I will supply updates when possible.

Dual Impact: Ravagore & Darkfire Lizard
We'll folks I have finally returned to the blog! It has been a hectic couple of weeks between work and home. It was busy enough that my geeking had to take a back seat to everything else. But I am back :-)
Over the past while I was able to finish off another warbeast for my Legion army, the Ravagore. This model will also be used for the next Delves adventure, the Darkfire Lizard.
I noticed after I took the pictures that I completely forgot to finish the dry brushing on the base, please forgive me :-). I did this guy a little different then the Scythean as I found the layers on the skin tone kind of washed together and didn't really bring out the details like I wanted.
For the Ravagore I started with a darker base, P3 Sanguin Base followed by the same formula I did with the Scythean. GW Scab Red to GW Red Gore. Followed by a mix of GW Red Gore and GW Blood Red to a highlight of just GW Blood Red.
The armor, claws and carapace were done the same as the Scythean but I did a little heavier highlight with the GW Bleached Bone to give the model more of a rugged aged look. The fire was based with GW Regal Blue, followed by a layer of GW Enchanted Blue. The top highlight was done with GW Ice Blue to a mix with GW Skull White.
You can see the drastic differences in the skin tones on both the models. In my own personal opinion the Ravagore looks better to me. What do you think?
When delving in the world of Onyx the Darkfire Lizard is a beast to be feared.......
Breath Weapon - Inferno Sphere
Type: Attack
Prerequisite: Breath Weapon
Some dragons and their kin are able to prefect their ability from breathing fire and other elements to hurling them at their enemies like a fireball. The damage is reflective of the cone size chosen for the breath weapon. Just like their breath weapon, once this power or a cone breath weapon is used in an encounter, the GM must roll 3+ goals on a chance roll to obtain the power to release the ability again. +1 RL.
Cost:15

Hordes & Delves Update: Scythean & Razorback
After finishing off my Pulp Alley league, I decided I wanted to finish my Legion of Everblight model, the Scythean. The reason was two fold. The Scythean is a melee machine and will get a lot of playtime in my Horde games and the model is needed for my next adventure of Delves.
The process for this guy was pretty simple. The carapace and claws were based with GW Scorched Brown and then dry brushed with a layer of GW Bestial Brown, followed by a mix of GW Graveyard earth and GW Bleached Bone. With a final touch of GW Bleached Bone. This was done first as as their was no worry of messing up another part of the model.
The skin was based with GW Scab Red. A layer of GW Red Gore was then applied halfway down each recess and to all the raised areas. The next layer was a mix of GW Red Gore and GW Blood Red which was applied to the raised areas. The final hightlight of GW Blood Red was used in select areas. The base was painted black and dry brushed with a white mix in a progressive fashion.

Delves Adventure Three: The Lost Goblin
Last weekend a few of us were able to get together for the third installment of our Delves adventuring. Due to some last minute business complications a few of the players were unable to make it. But the show must go on. To circumvent the issue Jason and Mark played two characters each.
Jason brought Hrothgar the Wild Slayer.
Mark brought Elowen the Wizard.
The players picked up where they left off, returning the surviving townsfolk back to Ironridge. After the townsfolk were safely with their families Alyanna and Orin went looking for information on their missing goblin comrade.
After talking to the guardsman the players find out the Capt has been missing and has been acting strangely. They find the crazy ole kook Madame Zaga, who was babbling of the end of days and evil being in town. Shortly after Gareth, the old woodman the characters rescued in the first adventure finds them. He brings information that Gor-Don was taken to the Webbed forest. Wasting no time the heroes, accompanied with Gareth set out to find their goblin ally.
When the adventures arrived at the edge of the Webbed forest Gareth informed them that he was unable to track them any further. Orin then surveyed the area and was able to pick up the trail, and followed it deeper into the woods.
The Heroes arrived at a clearing, where they saw giant spiders and what looked like Gor-Don cocooned in the center. They could also see a cultist and the captain of the guard discussing something by a cavern entrance.
The party rushed into battle to meet the many legged creatures head on. But the cultist and the Captain quickly evaded into the cavern.
The spiders proved to be more of a challenge then expected for Orin. Alyanna advanced to aid the ranger. Gareth was having troubles of his own with the Brood Mother and was immobilized by her webbing.
The adventures released Gor-don from his cocoon but find the goblin was weak and wounded. Gareth offered to take Gor-Don back to Ironridge for assistance and the two leave the party to return to town. (Ken who plays Gor-Don, was one of the players unable to make it).
The others take chase after the Captain and the cultist into the cavern.
The heroes arrived underground to find a horde of skeletons and mercenaries advancing toward them. "You fools, you will never stop us!" The cultist hissed from the back of the cavern.
Seeing the enemies strength was in numbers, Orin loosed multiple arrows, dropping three of the mercenaries. Hrothgar charged the remaining mercs swinging his axe wildly, carving up a number of the them. The skeletal warriors marched on the wild slayer surrounding him.
As the adventures were locked in the heat of battle the Captain and the cultist used the magical gateway to make their escape. "You fools played right into our trap. Now Ironridge will fall!" The cultist screamed.
With the news of a trap, the Heroes push the intensity of the battle. Elowen called forth her magical prowess and struck the skeletal horde with her magical lightning. The effect rippled through the horde crumbling a number of then where they stood. Alyanna sang the song of the moon and banished those that remained.
The remaining mercenaries fled in any direction they could find and our Heroes hurried to the magical device. "Hmm, interesting....how did they......Ahhh, inscriptions....Summa, Summma Lamma Tuiss" Elowen investigated the gateway and discovered its secrets.
The adventures gathered together while Elowen launched the magical gateway and teleported them to another destination.
The adventures were ported to the outskirts of Ironridge were the cultists were invading the town in full force. Innocent civilians were seen running in horror from the attack.
Hrothgar wasted no time to aid the town and charged the Earth Elemental. With one mighty blow the wild slayer crushed the elemental sending it back to the ground from which it came. The Captain and another cultist entered the fray with Hrothgar.
The cult leader Valek and his guardsman advanced the bridge bringing death the crazy Madame Zaga.
Alyanna and Elowen focused on the Captain taking him down and discovering him as an imposter. Hrothgar attempted to protect one of the townsfolk but the cultists arrow was deathly true.
Valek and his guardsman continued to the town keep were he bashed at the door with a crazed strength.
Hrothgar and Orin dashed to the bridge only to be intercepted a cultist and Valek's guardsman. A deadly accurate arrow proved more then the guardsman could handle.
Alyanna brought down her sword of light on the vile cultist ending its existence and continued to the injured civilians to offer magical healing. Orin ran to the keep to intercept Valek, but not before the cult leader was able to gain entry into the building. With a shout of battle rage Hrothgar smashed his axe over the head of the last cultist, cracking hit skull wide open.
The Wild Slayer and Ranger rushed to the keep but not in time. The ground shook and the sky grew dark with the clouds hazed in a redish glow.
A foul scream was heard from the top of the keep. "Mortals...the dark one lives, nothing can stop us."
The creature screamed again in a chaotic frenzy and took to the sky. Orin rose his bow and loosed an arrow at the dark winged being. The arrow hit only to bounce off the creatures hide. The creature continued on its path over the horizon.
Alyanna, Orin and the others aided the injured civilians. They discovered that an ancient artifact was buried under the keep and it must have been what Valek was after.
"Have you seen Gor-don or Gareth?" Alyanna asked the others......
I would have had this post up sooner but our family was celebrating the arrival of my niece Eve, who was born December 6 @ 10:17. 5lbs 6 ounces. I am one proud uncle!

GS Delves Resources
Since I started in on my Delves project I have created monsters, adventures, powers and of course painted many models. I figured it was time for me to share the wealth. With that in mind I created a Delves resource page. The intention is to centralize the materials I have used or created for my Delves gaming group.
You will find new monsters, powers, adventures and more. I will update the page with new material as I am able. Feel free to use any of the material provided and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.
You can check it out here or by clicking The Delves Project page above.
Thanks for reading.

Delves Update: Creepy Crawlers
Adventure three for our Delves campaign is coming up this weekend. This puts me back into my routine of preparing for the festivities.
With two other adventures already under my belt I am able to draw on some of the terrain and models I have already created which reduces the prep time for each adventure. I did however paint some new models and stats for a couple of cool baddies and here they are.
Heroes will want to be very cautious when encountering the Broodmother. She is a silent and deadly predator with a poisonous bite and webbed attacks. This model is from the Decent Board game from Fantasy Flight.
The only thing worse then facing a Broodmother, is a Broodmother with her brood. These spiders are much like their matriarch. The main difference is they are quicker and their poison is not as potent. These models are from the World of Warcraft Board game from Fantasy Flight.
Giant Spider (68 pts.): Web-spinning, many legged hunters.
Animal 4D, Str 5D, Def 4D, Tough 4D, Init 8
Mv: 7” HP: 10 Primary ATT & DAM: Bite 5D/6D
Alignment: N Size: L
Attributes & Powers: Entrap, Large Target, Natural Attack +1D Damage, Poison 1(Bite), Preternatural Quickness, Sharp Senses +1D, Stealth, Wall Walker

When I created these creatures I needed to create the poison ability. Here is what I came up with.

First up we have the Giant Spider Broodmother.

Heroes will want to be very cautious when encountering the Broodmother. She is a silent and deadly predator with a poisonous bite and webbed attacks. This model is from the Decent Board game from Fantasy Flight.
Giant Spider Brood Mother (72 pts.): Web-spinning, many legged matriarch of the hunter brood.

Alignment: N Size: L
Attributes & Powers: Deadly +1, Entrap, Large Target, Melee Attack +2/+1, Natural Attack +1D Damage, Poison 2(Bite), Sharp Senses +1D, Stealth, Wall Walker
Drive: Protection
Reward Level: +2D
Next we have the Giant Spiders

Reward Level: +1D
When I created these creatures I needed to create the poison ability. Here is what I came up with.
Poison
If a character is hit with a creature with the poison ability for the specific attack type they have to make a toughness (without armor) versus the poison level TN. If they fail they lose 1 hp otherwise the effects of poison wears off. If the check failed, they take one hp damage and at the beginning of their activation they have the make the check again until the check is passed or the character is reduced to zero hp. Unless specified poison does not stack.
Poison 1 - TN2
Poison 2 - TN3, +1RL
Poison 3 - TN4, +2RL
Cost: Poison 1 - 5 points, Poison 2 - 8 points, Poison 3 - 12 points

Delves: Ironridge Chronicles - Act II The Conclusion
The Transformation
If you missed the previous section of Act II you can check it out here.
As the heroes entered the underground temple a eerie sensation rippled through out their bodies. They each could tell the area was desecrated with evil.
"Be wary my friends, evil lies within this place." Alyanna urged her companions. She then offered a prayer to the lord of the Moon to protect them.
While the adventurers surveyed the area Orin could hear voices off in the distance.
"Be still comrades...there is something up a head, stay here while I take a closer look." The ranger quickly stalked forward to gain a better vantage point.
Orin hid behind one of the temple's pillars and observed the commotion.
A red robed figure was seen atop an altar chanting from what appeared to be ancient tome, while a earth elemental lumbered around the forward area. The town hostages were contained in the western section of the temple being guarded by gargoyle.
"I believe I have the element of surprise." Orin thought to himself. Remembering the pass experiences with rituals and summonings he knew he had to act.
With lighting speed the ranger loosed an arrow hitting the cultist hard in the shoulder. "Attack! I say ATTACK!" Orin commanded the others.
"Arggghhhhh" The cultist screamed in agony but continued his chanting.
"Summa summa laymma tus" The cultist continued while pointing towards the captive townsfolk.
One of the female townsfolk shrieked and fell to the temple floor. Followed by a white glowish light that appeared to exit the woman's body and be absorbed in the tome.
With a speed like none other the gargoyle rushed to meet the charging adventures and slammed into Alyanna knocking her to the ground.
Alyanna quickly regained her composer and stood to face the stoned creature.
"I shall smash you back into the earth you were formed from." The cleric challenged while trying to anticipate the next attack.
Grabthoat rushed forward to aid the cleric while Orin continued to rain arrows on the chanting cultist.
The red robed figure continued its chanting and again looked to the captives. Another hostage fell as its life essence was absorbed into the tome.
The earth elemental lumbered toward the adventurers to engage.
While this was happening Karajan and Chomper took the left flank. "Chomper to him. Take him down" The druid ordered his animal companion.
The fight continued as Alyanna and Grabthroat battled the gargoyle and Orin evaded the Earth Elemental.
Then the tome started to glow with a red essence that surrounded the cultist.
"We need to take him down now!" Orin screamed with command
"Chomper Eviscerate!" Karajan shouted across the temple.
The lizard charged head strong into the red robed figure leaping for its vital area. The cultist did all it could to avoid the assault but to no avail. Chomper sunk its teeth deep into the neck of cultist tearing bone and flesh.
The humanoid figure dropped to the ground and blood and fluid poured from the gaping wound. All grew quiet for the moment.
Then suddenly the pages of the tome flicked furiously over one another and exploded into flames. The gargoyle harden in mid movement while the earth elemental crumbled. The ceiling cracked and shook as daylight made it way through. The uneasy feeling of evil suddenly diminished and disappeared.
"The others, we must see to them." Alyanna said to her companions while she headed to the captives.
Karajan moved forward and explored the altar finding a hidden lever. "Ahh what do we have here." The druid thought to himself while releasing the lever
With a small rumble a doorway appeared in the wall behind the altar.
The heroes gathered the surviving captives and decided it was better to head into the hallway rather then back the way they came.
The adventurers continued through the dark hallway until it was met with a mine shaft from there they found their way back to the forest and back to Ironridge.
